There’s a good list of compatible/not compatible programs at – worth your time to check it out. There is always the chance that something that you use will not be compatible with 10.6, but if you make a backup first (please) you’ll be able to revert to 10.5. If you have an Intel Mac of any sort and you’ve been waiting to install 10.6, now is a good time. Printing is fast again, the iMac starts up quickly, Mail’s loading speed is especially improved, and overall the iMac is running better than it was in 10.5.8. Armed with the 10.6.2 update, I installed 10.6 on my original Intel iMac (the white one), and then the 10.6.2 update, and also the HP Printers update, and everything is great. For those problems, we’d have to wait for 10.6.2, and now it’s here. Apple had already put out the 10.6.1 update, but that didn’t address the problems that early adopters of 10.6 had been reporting. I had been waiting for this update before moving to Snow Leopard, and I’m glad I did. Apple released the 10.6.2 Snow Leopard update and it fixes a whole lot of issues (click the link and start the download while you read).
